Grounds Krewe is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a mission to promote waste prevention, recycling and sustainable products at New Orleans special events. Our vision is to help foster a festival culture that retains all of its enjoyment, while having the lowest impact possible on our community spaces and planet's resources by creating a setting in which environmental stewardship is both convenient and contagious.
Service learning students will assist with
Community Outreach: Represent the organization at public-facing events, community fairs, schools/universities and conferences through tabling and direct interaction with attendees. Distribute materials, share information about our programs, and engage with potential supporters.
Volunteer Events: Assist with on-site volunteer Mardi Gras throw assembly events at various locations across the city (as available) Help assemble, organize, and inventory sustainable Mardi Gras throws Pre and post event loading/unloading up to 50lb boxes at warehouse/storage locations
Social Media & Content Creation: Assist in creating visual and written content (graphics, short videos, stories) for engaging posts across social media platforms (Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok).
Students will gain Hands-on experience in events, sustainability, nonprofits, public engagement, marketing. Mentorship and professional development opportunities. Networking with sponsors, partners, and community organizations. Opportunity to contribute meaningfully to Grounds Krewe's mission of minimizing the environmental impact of NOLA events.
